AIFA Announces Seminars on Fees (Press Release 18-06-07)

The Association of Independent Financial Advisers (AIFA) is today (18 June) announcing its plans for a programme of seminars to assist IFAs with the development of their fee based business models.

AIFA has set up these seminars, in conjunction with FP Advance, in response to requests from members who wish to: further develop their existing fee charging structures; or transfer to a fee-base model; or find out more about operating wrap based models. The seminars will also provide professional financial advisers with the information they need to help them decide whether to keep their current business model or to move to one based on recurring income and ongoing advice.

The first four seminars will take place this year in:

    * Exeter (6 September)
    * Bristol (19 September)
    * London (8 November)
    * Birmingham (4 December).

Chris Cummings, Director General of AIFA said:

“AIFA is responding to the requests of our members by holding these seminars. More and more IFAs wish to find out about how to move to a wrap based business model, develop a fee business and build embedded value in their firm. These seminars provide answers to those questions.”

He continued:

“One industry trend driving the move towards fee based models is ‘wraps’. AIFA has formed a wraps working group; holds regular discussions with the FSA on market developments; and has published a guide to wraps as an aid for our members.  We want to help members understand the benefits that wraps bring to their businesses and their clients and these seminars cover how to operate these models.”

Brett Davidson, Chief Executive of FP Advance (which specialises in business transition) will be leading the seminars. Commenting he said:

“The move to a new and more profitable way of doing business is really gaining momentum and the results from clients that have worked with our consultants speak for themselves. As the leaders in transition planning we provide the missing pieces of the puzzle for IFAs and best of all we make it happen without massive drops in income. Anyone that is serious about transitioning should attend these AIFA workshops.”
