For a Good Cause
FP Advance are happy to support colleagues and clients raising money for good causes.
We’d like to say a huge well done to:
Tracey Underwood of Formation Asset Management who undertook the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of MedEquip4Kids. The challenge is to consecutively climb, and travel between, the highest mountains of Scotland, England, and Wales. The ‘Peaks’ are Ben Nevis (1344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1085m). Most people aim to complete this within a 24 hour period, although many underestimate the true scale of this challenge, and finish outside of this time.
It involves some 450 miles of driving, and around 26 miles of walking/climbing. It also includes around 10,000m of ascent and descent (3300m) and most people will spend around 11 hours driving between the peaks, and 13 hours or so walking in the mountains.
Hazel Hodge of Thinc Group who cycled 38 miles on June 13th 2008 with a view to raise £1000 for Leukemia Research. Hazel cycled from Burton-on-Trent to Solihull. Hazel says, "One of my work colleagues cycled 1000 miles around the UK in June with a view to raising £100,000 for Leukemia Research. So impressed was I with his mission (and having lost a 26 year old work colleague to this dreadful disease in the past) I volunteered to join the team of people who supported Mark by cycling one of the legs of the journey with him."
David Handyside of Harland & Company, along with other "beer drinking Newcastle United fans from Wylam" who completed the Coast to Coast challenge, cycling 146 miles from Whitehaven to Tynemouth over the weekend of 11th July 2008. The ride was in aid of the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation's aim of raising £500,000 to fund a specialist unit at the Freeman Hospital. The unit will specialize in the early detection of cancer.

Jon Cobb, along with his friends Kev & Andy visited the Dominican Republic in 2006. As a result of the extreme poverty witnessed, they committed to raise £55,000 to build a school in a "particularly heartbreaking" village through the charity Mission Direct.
"The plight of these people has got right under my skin and into my heart," Jon said. He tackled the Yorkshire Three Peaks on the 14th July 2007, in a bid to add £5,000 to the £20,000 already raised.

Jim Constable, our very own Senior Consultant on his bike ride through the Alps for Hammer Out.
In June 2007 Jim embarked on a bike ride with “three other ‘middle aged fools’” from Geneva to the sea at Nice. A total distance of 450km (285 miles) over 5 high alpine passes including Galibier at 8681ft and Col de la Bonnette at 9193ft the highest pass in Europe. The plan was for them to take four days - or they would miss the plane home.
Brett Davidson, Chief Executive of FP Advance commented “Anyone looking to book Jim for some consulting work should do it quickly”.
Hammer Out is a registered charity that supports people with brain tumours and their families, based near Bristol.
